形态特征
壳较大，坚固，蛹状；壳顶钝，几乎总是截断，螺层数6，平坦，缝合线窄而深，紫色表皮[1]，带有明显的肋纹，壳口椭圆形；壳口窦向上延长；上板发达，弯曲；下板突起，位于靠近螺轴的位置，下轴板抵达壳口；左唇缘以及腭壁有较为强壮的锯齿状小齿；主襞褶止于壳口边缘并隆起；月状襞小而直，二者形成锐角。
长：34毫米；宽：10毫米。
栖息地：城口地区常见。
该种大小变化较大；其口部的齿状结构只有在老年个体中才能看到，且并非每个个体都有。第一螺层通常呈腐蚀状。
译自原始文献
1：壳皮应为淡黄绿色，老熟后磨损，显露出钙质，可能是原始描述中为“紫色”的原因，参考副模照片。
补充信息
与疯狂断旋螺的区分：1. 短切上板螺旋板和主襞褶形成的呼吸管闭合较好，而疯狂的呼吸管较开放；2. 短切壳口底部呼吸通道由下板和下轴板构成，而疯狂的底部呼吸通道由下轴板和基褶（壳口底部的一个额外褶皱）构成。
Nordsieck 2001c P39 给出了 Excussispira 属的形态区分：
A. 无特殊呼吸管
A.1. 无任何呼吸通道，基褶几乎无 - E. fargesiana
A.2. 具有一个由下轴板和基褶构成的特殊通道 - E.lunatica
B. 具有一个由上板和主襞褶构成的特殊呼吸管
B.1. 主襞褶未达外唇 - E. laurentiana
B.2. 主襞伸长抵达外唇
B.2.1. 闭板无脊 - E. decurtata
B.2.2. 闭板有脊，壳口窦上弯
